Guess why I donned all purple for today?

In continuing my penchant for finding things in unexpected places, I'd like to point out this heart made out of ... space fabric wrapped around heater. Screw Valentine cards, nothing's more romantically sweet than this.

Gogol Bordello got it right when he warbled in his quasi-Russian: start wearing purple for me now. Then again, he didn't really finish that sentence with "for raising awareness of anti-gay bullying." Unfortunately those lyrics weren't as catchy, so it ended up on the cutting room floor. Despite this, the song played on sporadic repeat in my head as I walked around decked out in more purple than a stereotypical pimp. And much like a pimp, I felt like I had to slap some rakes and hos around loved to help a brother/sister/anything-in-between out in a tiny way.

And here's my gift to you. This song. Enjoy it. Dance to it. Wear purple to it.

Two reasons you know this is a true man: his mustache and the fact that he can somehow pull off drag.

Hi! Just stumbled upon your blog through jennifhsieh's comments. I love your style! You're so great at mixing colours and patterns. I esp love the outfit with the cobalt tights and mohair sweater and lace top. Very inspiring. And that bus with the lettering on it?? How cool is that!! So perfect for that post :)

Have a lovely day!

Thank you for your amazing comment. Your purple outfit is epic and I'm sure the LGBT are very thankful for your outward expression and support. I appreciate and admire you. My favorite color is lavender, but I don't wear it or own purple clothes... it's odd. Your long comments make me happy! Thanks! :)

I, too, was wearing purple yesterday to show solidarity with LGBTQ youth. Your outfit is so fun with all the shades of purple and the skirt layering!

Dude. Just... dude. Your purple outfit is the purple outfit to rule all purple outfits! J'adore!!! With three exclamation marks because it's just that awesome. If there was a hall of fame for purple, this outfit would be in it.

That song was pretty fun. Have you listened to Balkan Beat Box and Beats Antique? They are two other bands you might like based on that sound.

I just love all the purple. I don't know what it is, Charlene, but I keep thinking that you need to live in the East Village or Lower East Side of NYC for some time. I think you'd love it.
