What happens in Youtube, stays in Youtube.

"What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."

You know that one scene in The Hangover, where the main characters wake up from a heavily alcohol-induced stupor, having the king of all "wtf?!" moments? I vaguely can relate to that feeling... minus the booze, Vegas, and major WTF... actually ok. I can relate to it in the fact that I would realize how much time has gone after avidly youtubing for hours.

It's just like this particular MLIA that my friend Michelle said was "so US."

"Today, I started doing my Italian homework. Half an hour later, I realized I was in the middle of watching a Youtube video about chameleons. I have no clear recollection of how I ended up there. MLIA"

That chameleon is totally lolling at you. The little guy is just chillin'.

Instead of chameleons, I found myself watching speeches-- the type where actors/actresses dress up all fancy and endlessly thank people. Some were amusing, all laid down the typical "you're amazing, an inspiration to us all," and the select few either confused me or entertained/touched me more than they should (the Jamie Foxx Oscar speech always makes me tear up a little at his story-- what's wrong with me??). Here are some of my favorites.

I love Eddie Izzard. His Sean Connery impression seems to have been a hit with 007 himself.

I'm also just a fan of Steve Martin. 2:35-3:11 cracks me up.

Have you ever
delved into the world of Youtube, only to resurface hours later? Or is winter break just getting to me?

OK, this isn't a speech, but it's Kate Winslet doing improv as a dog. Come on.

Trapped in the Closet

I admire the girls who continually go outdoors for their photo shoots during the wintertime. Of course, with some lucky few who live in an area near the equator, it isn't a particularly daunting task. But I chickened out and hid in my closet-- literally.

Cardigan&knit scarf- TJMaxx : Leopard scarf- Urban Outfitters : Jeans- Old Navy : Belt- Walmart? : Socks- the bunny trail

I've never took pictures in my closet before, but I actually ended up liking it. In a way it's symbolic, right? Outfit pictures taken where the outfits have come from... or... OK, that was my feeble attempt at being esoteric.

I bought the white knit scarf in the fall, and I'm glad I did. Not only did I anticipate how bitter the wind can whip your face (they seriously do, it's cruel), but I was inspired by the recent surge in infinity scarves. It's like having a sweater around your neck! Sure, I have my puff winter coat, but it's all about the layerslayerslayers, amirite? I'm forever trying to find ways to be "creatively warm;" and in 20-30 degree weather, it's a given.

And yes, those are bunny socks. I'm not apologetic for them.

Love is all you need

First legit post, and of course, it's about the Beatles.

I don't think I need to write out a whole paragraph waxing poetic, but I'm a huge Beatles fan. Probably not one of the biggest, but I've been on one-two-many times on a Beatles (and subsequently, Across the Universe) kick before. Long story short, I think they're awesome and I find it hard pressed to find anyone who deliberately dislikes them.

So when I saw this clip from the Starbucks Love Project, it was just too perfect.

Can you imagine? Something universal as "All You Need is Love" can bring the whole world together in song. It's really cheesy to say, but when you think about it, isn't it amazing? I couldn't stop smiling when I saw this video, and almost damn near cried.

Speaking of the Beatles
, there really is a whole mythos surrounding them, especially John; he's become something of a legend. Which is both fascinating and preposterous, because he was really just a man with as many foibles as the next. There have been thousands of imitations of him and the Beatles, but I feel like there weren't many movies starring them (besides the ones that they themselves starred in) as a biopic.

That's why I was surprised and can't lie-- really intrigued-- when I saw this trailer.

The accent is there, but admittedly my mind is still a bit put off at how different John and Paul look from their real counterparts-- but who can be perfect? And sidenote: can you BELIEVE that Paul McCartney is being played by the same boy who was in Love Actually?? Another shocker, he's my age. Wow, I feel... old?

Paul himself isn't too happy with the film, but not because of his portrayal. I'm still very interested in seeing this film, though with my luck, I probably won't...

But! All I need is love. Yes, I went there, with the cheese, yeah.

The Shockingly Normal Beginning

Hello.

Where do I start?
I'm Charlene, otherwise known as Charmal
ade here, how are you?

I'm fine, thank you. I mean to start a blog covering my deepes
t and lightest interests: fashion, art, pop culture, music, movies, TV shows, my dog... among other topics. I can get silly, I can get serious; I'm mostly ridiculous.

I hope you let me share my ridiculousness with you. But who knows? Let's see where this goes... :)
