Practice (and nit-picking) makes Perfect

Oh dear! I'm behind on my blogging! Right after I told myself that I should up my ante! Exclamation points! Oh the ill-timed irony...

But you know who I'm going to blame?

THIS.

You thought Nemo was cute? You thought wrong. Look into his cold, dead eyes. Uh, eye.

Recognize the goldfish? Well, it all manifested into my first project of the semester. My attitude near the end ranged from "I should work on this a lot more" to "I JUST WANT THIS FINISHED, DANG." Who knew that tweaking, editing, more tweaking, printing, cutting, gluing... would all take several hours?? Admittedly, youtube breaks were, uh, involved. But it was completed. Eventually. Which is why:

What's Lovely for February 7, 2010: Getting shit DONE.

Though the terrible stigma that I have is trying to perfect everything while putting it off to the absolute last second. Note: perfectionism + procrastination = some haphazard result that may or may not be adequately successful.

Even "high fashion" model poses in my head turn out to be awkward as hell. Here, I look like I'm eating my bowler. Omnomnomnomnom.

A lesson which I apparently never learn. For my other impending project, we had to take photos of ourselves for designing a magazine cover. Seeing as how I had no fancy point-and-shoot and veritable photo skills in general, I requested the help of my wonderful photographer friend. Though this went a little out of my way (and hers), I was utterly grateful and trusted that she'd do a really good job. Despite my incapability to look like a pin-up, I think she more than fulfilled my expectations!

Furreal, y'all should check out her flickr: I'm a big fan of her work and creep on it when I can.

I promise you that I don't ever look mighty fierce or hawtt (with two t's); it totally helps that I'm paler than a snail's underbelly.

Dress (underneath)- Goodwill : Pants but not really- Macy's? : Tights- We Love Colors : Shoes- Old Navy : Bowler- Target : Necklace- gift

Speaking of how ridiculously pale I am...

What's Lovely for February 8, 2010: Seeing someone in my classroom wearing a Pale Force t-shirt (ironically in a class where we're discussing racial issues and skin color). I'm... sure it wasn't planned.

Jim Gaffigan and Conan O'Brien: two incredible weirdos who I think are endlessly hilarious. Does this make me a weirdo? Most likely.

PS: Does anyone know what these types of pants are called? The name is currently escaping me...

I almost said "Bermuda Shorts," but that would be wrong.

LOVE THE POSES. Although I had to scroll down to see all of the picture!

"Paler than a snail's underbelly" should be used more often.

Love the red tights. The goldfish looks awesome, but I echo your sentiments exactly when I had art projects. You pour your soul into and you want it just perfect, then you hit a point where you just wish it would be over.

I'm pretty sure you're rocking crushed velvet gauchos, you posh little Argentinian!

I love the art project and I love the photos! You look like an X, in a great way! And when you said you were doing an experiment with fishes, you threw me for a loop. I really expected to see pebble food and tanks and stuff. ;)

Congratulations! You sound like a procrastinating perfectionist.

Don't worry, you're not alone. :D
