To clarify, I'm not going to the Indianapolis Museum of Art when I've already been there. But then, the pun wouldn't have worked. YouknowwhatImean. This past weekend the mother and I went to visit IMA and its surrounding gardens. And by that, I mean that I wanted to walk outside while she preferred the air conditioned museum. Usually I never pass up an opportunity to see an art museum with all its glorious art, but I was eager to see the new 100 Acres park that just opened up (is it lame that I also really wanted to go because John Green of Vlogbrothers featured it in one of his videos? perhaps). Even though I only saw a bit of it, it definitely didn't disappoint. I loved walking around all the nature paths-- once or twice I was all by myself, enabling me to sing "Colors of the Wind" in complete peace (no joke, I thought it appropriate for the setting).

Can you believe that not one, but two people are living in this tiny igloo throughout the summer? I applaud them and hope they don't develop claustrophobia or agoraphobia.

I definitely need to visit this place again. And you should too, know why? Because IMA, 100 Acres and everything else around it is free. FREE. How ridiculous is that? I'm almost suspicious of it all, just like how this strange concept of the "library" sounds too good to be true...

I'm only showing this picture of a mannequin from the H&M I went to afterwards because I think I'd walk outside in an outfit like this. What do you think? Do you think that this is Charmalade-style?

When we were leaving, there was this bizarre sight in the sky-- dark clouds with only a sliver of blue and white peeping through. Again, my camera can't do this spectacle full justice, but it's pretty damn close.

And so ended my day in Indy. Next up: Catching up on my What's Lovelies and finally answering Indigo's questions that she tagged me in awhile ago! Yikes.

What's Lovely for Saturday, April 24, 2010: Visiting friends, finding refuge in a crowded, cozy restaurant filled with awesome graffiti...

I appreciate the really literal approach to this a lot.

... and gorge-your-heart-out pizza. (warning, food porn below, hide the children)

What's Lovely for today, April 25, 2010: The little things at the workplace. A hug full of sisterly love, a little nostalgia at the year ending... and of course, that one moment when a bunch of us broke out into song. Which song? The best song.

Did you know there's also a Cantonese AND Mandarin version sung by Jackie Chan himself? Totally rad. You should totally check both of them out HERE and HERE.

Psst... computer's being way old and wonky, so pictures-- TOMORROW. Yes, tomorrow.

Lingering on the precipice of consciousness

What's Lovely for Thursday, April 22, 2010: Having the sweet soft-serve ice cream become sticky on your lips-- the best kind of lipgloss. Actually, no wait, the best kind of lipgloss is poppin', it's cool, it keeps the boys jockin' and chasing me after school. (Please say you got that reference, otherwise I'm just that crazy person singing about lipgloss)

Here are some pretties taken from rummaging through my "Visual Inspirations" folder to make up for lack of photos. Please enjoy. :)
Disney meets Art Nouveau? Yes, please. I only wish they did Belle, otherwise I would've put her here. [source]
Unfortunately, I seem to have forgotten the exact place where I got this. If anyone recognizes this/knows where I stole this, please let me know!
Never have I ever been more tempted by fluorescent pastels and bunny ears than by this shot from the Melbourne Fashion Festival. [source]
This photo captures that noir film feeling perfectly-- so why do I have ABBA's "Slipping Through My Fingers" stuck in my head when I see this?? [source unknown, sorry!]
Isn't this perfectly haunting? [source]

What's Lovely for today, April 23, 2010: The moment when you come home and you jump right into your pajamas. Ahhhhh~

I usually am skeptical if an actress tries to break into the music field.. but... I can't... help... but love this song. It's perfectly mellow in all the right ways!

Outfit pictures were taken today, I promise. No, I pinky promise. Only I have no means of putting those photos into my computer, unless a certain amount of magic is involved. In the meantime however, I need to go pass out for the night so I have enough time to run errands and take a day trip tomorrow. Happy Friday, everyone!

A quick letter

Dear to Whom It May Concern,

This week is so ridiculouslycrazybusy that I just invented a word to show how busy I'll be. I'm stressing like it's a competitive sport, and I'm gaping at the screen for lack of a better sleep deprivation. I just wanted to write that I'm alive, but only barely. Pictures and words will be scarce, and my life will restart after Friday.

Love, Charmalade

PS: You may want to change your name, "Whom It May Concern" must be hard to sign on all your papers.

(As compensation, I'll share three lovelies with you all.)
A song:

One word: ZIGAZIGAHHHH.

A movie trailer:

The really cool thing (besides the fact that it's a behind-the-scenes look at Disney Studios during their Renaissance), is that one of the producers involved with this movie is showing this documentary at my university, where he's an alum!

And breathtakingly gorgeous and terrifyingly sexy photos, politely stolen from Michelle's blog:

I feel like this is some kind of Amelie meets Lolita done right. [Click on the picture for link to the site]

What's Lovely for April 12, 2010: Friendly hitchhikin', the kind that won't leave you stripped of money and clothes at the side of the road, but the kind that'll get you someplace a lot quicker if you asked.

I also want to thank Anna from Satinsugar for giving me a blog award! I'll get back to it later, I guarantee that!

Thrice Makes Nice

You know what they say: random news comes in threes.

So just because I like some organization, this post will come right at you in three parts!

Is that a rock glowing, or are you just happy to ... oh, never mind.

1. What's Lovely for February 1, 2010: A little naughty look at Disney "princes."

OK OK hold up, let me explain. If there's one thing out of many tidbits that one should know about me, is that I heart Disney with all my heart. Despite a deep love for the characters, music, and animation, I occasionally like to tease. Hence, the (somewhat questionable) pictures I share with you now.

Now warning: these drawings are more than a little NSFW (ironically, my friend Natalie showed these to me while we were at work). Above I put the link to the blog post showcasing pictures of Disney "princes" had they chosen to drop their swords in favor of underwear. In fact, y'all should dally on over to the original artist's site, since he has the genuine talent worthy of Disney studios. Bless you, David Kawena, bless you and these interesting illustrations.

2. What's Lovely for February 2, 2010
: Blythe! Blythe! Blythe!

Both a little creepy and a little entrancing, these vintage dolls have this eerie, childlike beauty to them. There's a whole pool of them at this Flickr slideshow-- you should go dive right into the weird magic.

Can you come up with a suitable caption for this? I'm at a loss of words.

3. Remember those ramen noodles randomly thrown out in the snow that I mentioned a few days ago? Yeah, so I finally got a picture of them. They're still there, still inexplicably there.

and PS: I hope to receive my very first bona fide Modcloth dress in the mail tomorrow, if not soon. :) Exclamation points, I'm so excited!!
